GYPSY WOMAN

I live in a box
With nary an opening to the world,
Shackled by my fears and doubts
Hemmed in by society's mores.

It's my lot to conform,
Do what I should do,
'twould ruffle a lot of feathers
If I didn't-
If the untrodden path I took!

But I am a gypsy woman
I let my spirit soar;
And roam unfettered nameless lands,
Swim uncharted shores.

None owns my mind but me
That I let run amok,
To find my technicolor world, lost
In the labyrinth of sepia tones.

In the midst of a mundane existence
It’s my dreams that set me free
To roam the world, to soar the skies-
At heart I'm a true gypsy!
